Training Description

During the final days of the Obama administration, there was a flurry of activity with regulations being finalized and executive orders being issued.  Then, there was the inevitable lawsuits attacking the drastic changes and a new administration that has resulted in the current administration reviewing and revamping the changes.  As with any new administration, goals and ideas often shift, and the Trump administration has not proven to be any different.

The Trump administration revoke many of the executive orders signed during the Obama administration.  A district court issued a permanent injunction keeping very controversial overtime regulations from taking effect.  This caused the Department of Labor to go back to the drawing board in trying to increase the minimum salary levels for exempt employees.  The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Department of Labor are taking a hard look at what these agencies perceive to be continued pay discrimination.  How are they looking at this issue and other issues of concern to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Department of Labor?

In this program, you’ll learn how to:

  • Proposed regulations regarding exempt status under the Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Proposed regulations clarifying the regular rate of pay for purposes of calculating overtime
  • How the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is planning to attack pay discrimination
  • The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s plan to address continued harassment in the workplace.
  • The administration’s intent to address the modern workforce – use of personal digital devices, telecommuting, and staffing agencies
  • The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s strategic plan and litigation that has already been filed under the plan
