Training Description

HUD published a final rule amending its fair housing regulations in order to protect individuals who experience harassment in housing. The courts and HUD have long considered harassment based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, family status, and disability (the “protected classes”) to be prohibited under the Fair Housing Act.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has also issued “Limited English Proficiency” (LEP) guidance that addresses how the Fair Housing Act would apply to claims of housing discrimination brought by people because they do not speak, read, or write English proficiently.

Both rules directly affect fair housing requirements for owner and management agents. In this webinar, they will be explained in detail and guidance will be given in how these updates should be implemented in today’s fair housing environment considering disparate impact rulings from HUD.

Learning Objectives:

  • How does this affect landlord liability?
  • When are rules effective?
  • Do I have to change policies?
  • What do I need to provide?
  • And more.

This course will go over the rules in detail and cover any ramifications to the owners and managers. There are changes that must be followed.
